The Director, Business Development reports to the Vice President Corporate Services, S/he is responsible for developing and advancing relationships with employers, businesses and other external organizations to further the work-related opportunities of continuing Education programs, Corporate training and Conference services. S/he also coordinates and collaborates with members of the College’s community to formalize and maintain these relationships to advance the strategic objectives of the College. This leadership position provides vision and leadership for all Continuing Education and other selected programs and is responsible for the oversight of team operations, Lifelong Learning programs, Adult Education, Workforce Development Programs.

This position leads the Business Development team and Conference Service’s Team in identifying and securing entrepreneurial opportunities as a member of the overall leadership team for related workforce/business/economic development activities. As a member of the Leadership Team S/he collaborates with other senior leaders to support the strategic priorities of the College.

Required Minimum Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5 years combined experience in business development, marketing and/or external relations. You will have a strong understanding of the Alberta public post-secondary system and have experience identifying innovative and sustainable opportunities for growing the colleges business opportunities. S/he will have a collaborative leadership style, an ability to engage with multiple stakeholders and excellent communication skills

Desired Qualifications
1. Understanding of current trends/issues in higher education related to workforce development, continuing education, and academic career programs
2. Experience with apprenticeship programs
3. Experience in labor market analysis and industry growth projections at the local, regional, Provincial, and national levels
4. Experience representing an institution in collaboration with business/industry, governmental, and community representatives
5. Experience in organizational leadership and project management
6. Experience in the development of student-centered teaching and learning strategies
7. Ability to communicate effectively (orally and in writing) to external and internal constituencies
8. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a culturally diverse workforce and student population
